The Fun and Fellowship Council strives to reinforce St. Thomas Becket's vision of creating a welcoming Catholic community for all who enter through our doors. We provide opportunities for all to feel personally welcome to participate in parish social events and activities required to keep our building and grounds a beautiful and peaceful place to worship.
We welcome those interested in building a more connected St. Thomas Becket!
To some, the greatest handicap is the ability to add correctly.
For over 10 years running, STB parishioners and friends have spent a September Saturday morning enjoying each other's company and a round of golf. The day includes a best ball tournament and award banquet buffet at Emerald Greens Golf Club (Hastings).
All skill levels are welcome. Bring your own foursome or join a group of new friends.
If you'd like to help organize or run the event, there are places for everyone (prior to the event or at the course that day) -- event planning, contest hole monitors, golfer check-in, emcees, etc. Contact Steve Boehm ([email protected] or 651-350-9391) to help or find out more.
If you'd like to play, check the bulletin and listen to Mass announcements in late August and early September for event and registration details.
If this looks interesting but you're not ready to commit to the planning team, additional volunteers are solicited closer to the event to act as meal servers and the kitchen/event cleanup team. These are wonderful ways to check out the event and work in small teams on very specific tasks or for youth to fulfill service requirements.
To attend the dinner as a guest, check the bulletin or website beginning in January to register!
Looking to meet other parents and their children? Fun Families brings together families of all types to gather between Sunday Masses (February - April) and for special events throughout the year geared for those who work full-time, part-time or stay-at-home parents.
We are currently looking for a volunteer to coordinate our Fun Families events. To learn more, fill out the 'Interested in Learning More' form below.
Cheers! Salut! Skål! Proost! Sláinte! Na zdrowie! Salud!
Join your fellow parishioners for good food, good drinks, and good conversation. Get to know those you worship with at a local craft brewery or right here at St. Thomas Becket.
Coordinating a Holy Happy Hour takes anywhere from 10 minutes (when hosted at local brewery) to an hour (when hosted at STB). No special skills required -- a little communication, a little outgoing and a little thirsty!
To join a Holy Happy Hour, watch the bulletin and website, or listen for announcements to learn more about each event date/time and details. Open to all parishioners 21 and older. See you there!
Become a member of our tri-parish Knights of Columbus council, Catholic men building a bridge to faith! Meetings, typically on the second Monday of each month, last about 90 minutes. Plan 2 hours if you're going to join us for the rosary before the meeting. Come as frequently as your schedule allows.
All parishioners are invited to attend Knights of Columbus hosted events througout the year such as New Parishioner Welcome Breakfasts, fund raisers, Easter Egg Hunt, Keep Christ in Christmas, and the St. Nicholas Breakfast. Watch the bulletin and website for info on specific events or listen to Mass announcements.
No Green Thumbs Required!
Volunteer parishioners perform 100% of our grounds maintenance. In addition to our lawn mowing and adopt-a-garden crews, we gather each spring and fall to perform bigger maintenance tasks and prepare for the upcoming season.
Anyone with a green thumb, a love for enjoying beautiful outdoor spaces, a strong back or a desire to learn more about landscape maintenance is welcome to join our planning team or a landscape maintenance day.
Coordinators would spend about an hour planning for the event at their convenience and 2-3 hours on-site at the event. No special training or experience is required.
Not ready to coordinate the event, join us for a morning of landscape maintenance. This is a wonderful way to meet fellow parishioners in a small group setting. Participants of all ages, physical abilities and experience are welcome. It's a great opportunity for teens to perform service hours. There's something for everyone! Check the bulletin or website or listen to Mass announcements in the spring and fall for more details!
Volunteer parishioners perform 100% of our grounds maintenance. In addition to our seasonal maintenance events and adopt-a-garden crews, small teams gather once per month to maintain our turf areas -- riding mower, push mower, weed whacking, and blowing.
Mowers, in teams of four, spend 2-3 hours once per month keeping our outdoor space looking good! Schedules are published in advance and teams are formed based upon availability. Grab your sunscreen & bucket hat and join seasoned volunteers or recruit a new team of 3!
Must be 18 to operate our riding mower.
March Madness, the St. Thomas Becket way!
Every March, we gather for a fun afternoon of indoor miniature golf. The course spans the entire building and uses every nook and cranny - the elevator might even be incorporated into some of the holes!
Donuts and a hot cocoa bar are provided. This event is open to parishioners of all ages and friends are always welcome!
If you'd like to help coordinate the event or help with a portion (set-up, clean-up, crowd control, etc.), no prior experience is required. We welcome anyone excited to help plan a fun event on a cold winter's day! This is a wonderful opportunity for teens to perform service hours.
To join us at March Mini Golf, watch the bulletin and website, or listen for announcements in late February or early March for event date/time and details.
Our 2021 Mother's Day Flower Planting event is scheduled for 5/9/2021.
For Mother’s Day, Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) and Sharing God's Story (SGS) youth honor mothers by planting marigolds along the flower beds at the south entrance and around the patio.
With the help of teen volunteers (grades 6-12), our youth plant flowers and wash dirty hands during the normal Children’s Liturgy time. Children also mark the area they planted, so stop out after Mass and enjoy their handiwork.
Coordination of this event requires about an hour done in advance as your schedule allows.
To participate or support this event,
New parishioners, watch your inbox for an e-vite to this welcoming breakfast!
We are actively looking for a coordinator or team to identify, organize and promote activities and service projects for young adults.
