The Parish Leadership Council (PLC) advises our pastor on topics related to parish life, ensures our mission statement becomes action and supports the accomplishment of annual and long-term goals. The PLC is comprised of 11 parishioners and 2 staff members, our pastor and our business administrator. Parishioner roles include: a chair person, a parish trustee, 1 representative from each our our 6 ministry councils, and 2 at-large members.
The Parish Engagement Council helps parishioners use their unique God-given talents to the benefit of others, within our walls and beyond. From welcoming new members, to helping connect parishioners with the multitude of ministry opportunities available, to celebrating our successes, the Engagement Council strives to assist all who seek to love, to serve and to be hope.
We are always looking for new faces with fresh perspectives to join our small but active and energetic team. We assist all STB ministries by building systems and creating tools to connect people and their gifts with ministry opportunities.

The Faith in Action Council explores real ways our parish community members and our local Community can make a difference in Dakota County, Minnesota, the US, or the World. We make an extra effort to address structural injustices; but we do not shy away from forms of local outreach that address the immediate needs of food, shelter, or clothing.
Under this over-arching scope, we support the following:
The Worship Council aids the parish community in liturgies that create prayerful experiences as we come together:
Recent Projects:

The Caring Council prayerfully extends the love of Christ in service to all people of the St. Thomas Becket family, and to our larger community as well. We provide physical, spiritual, and emotional support to meet individual needs.
Some of the ministries under the Caring Council include:
One of our biggest accomplishments in 2020 was reaching out to all parishioners over 75 years old during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure all parishioners had support and to identify needs, ie. food deliveries, prayer requests, etc.
A goal for the upcoming year is to create a new ministry to reach out to potentially isolated individuals and explore the feasibility of a Health Ministry.

Council Vision:
We, the Catholic Community of St. Thomas Becket, believe that God is found in everyday life, and that faith and life are inseparable. We aspire to nurture people at all Life Stages, support the development of the whole person and foster a call to prayer and Christian service. In addition to faith-centered, classroom learning, we will create innovative opportunities for online learning, mentoring, outreach and the discovery of each person’s God given gifts.
Our Life Stages:

Welcome STB Leaders!
This gift-based webpage is designed for you. Check back often for new options to learn and develop as a gift-based leader!
Who is a gift-based leader? Gift-based leaders know that God blesses each person and faith communities with a diversity of unique gifts. God-given gifts equip and empower each community to carry out their mission while reflecting the community’s values.
Gift-based leaders value and appreciate individuals’ gifts. Gift-based leaders want to learn about others’ gifts through gift-based conversations and invite people to develop and share their gifts in all aspects of life.
St. Thomas Becket (STB) gift-based leaders are STB parishioners and staff members who work toward further developing STB’s gift-based culture.

Council meetings are held the first Thursday of each month from September to June, although individual councils may opt to meet more frequently or year round. Member terms are 3 years. Each ministry council has 5 parishioners and 1 staff member with staggered terms so that 1-2 ministry council members complete their term each May.
For the 2020-2021 council calendar, the Parish Leadership Council also meets the second Thursday of each month.
