OUR CHOIRS ARE CURRENTLY OPERATING IN LIMITED CAPACITY DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.
There are many ways to be more involved in music ministry, depending upon your preferred Mass time and how much time you have to share:
Cantor Prepare and sing the psalm verses and other solos and lead the assembly in sung prayer. This role may require more frequent rehearsal at home or with the music director.
Choir Our choir supports the prayer of the assembly through working on more complicated music in a variety of styles. They sing together for important liturgies throughout the year and in smaller groups at each Mass through the year. Members attend a 90mminute rehearsal during the week and arrive 30 minutes prior to Mass start times. The ability to read music is recommended, but not required; a good ear and a cooperative mindset are vital!
Youth Choir (grades 3-7) Our youth choir members and instrumentalists learn about music and their faith, and have fun while doing it! They often provide our music for our early Mass on Christmas Eve and our 9:00 am Mass on Easter.
Music Librarian Do you have a gift for organizing? Music librarians help refile, maintain, and organize the many pieces from the St. Thomas Becket music library. Time commitment is flexible.

Our Hand Bell Choir is a fun and talented group that plays for Masses occasionally throughout the year as well as at special liturgies and events.
No experience is required, but we especially welcome anyone able to read music and play in concert with other bell ringers. Rehearsals are typically Tuesday evenings from September through April. A one-year commitment is requested.

We love to have instrumentalists enhance our choirs on a variety of instruments. Musicians of any age with a reasonable mastery on an instrument are welcome to join one of our regular weekend choirs or for special Masses and programs.

Our soundboard technicians operate our soundboard during Mass. This requires being attentive, turning microphones on and off, and listening for the balance of the sound for the congregation. New soundboard technicians receive training and are paired with experienced soundboard techs until they are ready to handle the role on their own.
Outside of the initial training, no extra time commitment is required other than arriving to Mass early to allow the musicians to get warmed up and ready for Mass.

Video technicians help our church extend our outreach beyond our walls, to the homebound, to those at a distance, and others who can not be with us in person. This involves keeping an eye on several video feeds from our cameras, choosing which image to display, and adjusting the cameras as needed throughout the liturgy. Experience with video technology is welcome, but not required; training is provided.
