We recognize and celebrate our differences. Differences in the talents we've been given, the things that excite and motivate us, the choices of how we spend our time, and how much time we have to share.
We also recognize we are better together and when we grow and share our talents and gifts.
The Parishioner Engagement Council exists to help you find your place at St. Thomas Becket and in our community.
"Let us give ourselves to service."
Romans 12:7
“Who is a Christian disciple? One who responds to Christ’s call, follows Jesus, and shapes his or her life in imitation of Christ’s. Who is a Christian steward? One who receives God’s gifts gratefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with others, and returns them with increase to the Lord.”
Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response, Introduction
The Parishioner Engagement Council advocates for the full engagement of all in our parish. By building a culture of stewardship, we help parishioners use their gifts of time, talent and financial resources to carry out the St. Thomas Becket mission to love, to serve and to be hope.
Parishioner Engagement Council Member Responsibilities:
Ideal council members have a passion for being a disciple of Jesus, an openness to deepening one’s knowledge of what stewardship means and a desire to assist in growing the culture of the parish. Good communication and listening skills and a positive attitude toward the parish and its ministries are a plus.
The Parishioner Engagement council meets one or two times monthly, as required, approximately 2- 4 hours a month. An additional 1- 2 hours a month as your convenience is also likely to complete action steps. There is also an opportunity for attendance at parish leadership special meetings, as requested by pastor.
Do you have a knack for making connections? Like to learn about people's interests and connect them with opportunities to fuel their passions?
Consider becoming a Ministry Connector. Our Ministry Connectors work with interested parishioners to discover a match between their gifts of skill, passion and experience and opportunities for service in our parish's many ministries.
Ministry Connector Responsibilities:
If you have a good understanding about our current ministries or a desire to learn, good communication and listen skills, an interest and comfort in meeting new people and a positive attitude toward our parish and its many ministries, we'd love to hear from you!
Ministry Connectors typically spend 2-3 hours per month in service. Training is provided and much of the work may be done as your schedule allows.
